In October of 2006, we lost many of our precious trees to the surprise snowstorm. Trees are a valuable resource: they add beauty and charm to our street, increase the value of nearby properties, and provide shade that decreases energy costs for our homes. In an effort to continue ongoing reforestation efforts, the City of Buffalo partnered with Re-Tree WNY to provide trees for our block club to plant to replace those we lost. On Nov 15, 2008, Block Club members were joined by students from fraternities and sororities at Buffalo State to plant the new trees. This was a great volunteer opportunity for the students who were very energized and enthused! They were thrilled to do some important work in the community and we were thrilled to have their help.
