Flower Power!

Re-Treed!

Flower Planting Party!

Block Club members join together to beautify our block.

Many hours of long and hard work on the Livable Communities Grant finally bloomed as Potomac 400 Block Club members joined together in the planting of 20 large flower pots placed up and down our block to make our street a more beautiful place to live. The day started at Urban Roots on Rhode Island street where Urban Roots' Deb guided the final steps of the plans IMG_2060developed by Block Club President Rachel and other club members assisted by Michael Murphy, Urban Roots manager. Rachel, Ed, Michael, Paul and Melanie (with help from Caleb and Eli) spent a few hours loading up their vehicles with flower pots, plants and bags of soil. They made several trips back and forth and Ed thankfully agreed to let us use his driveway as a loading dock! Buffalo ReUse dropped off bricks to help weigh down the pots and provide drainage.

IMG_2088Later in the4th of july 009 day, Deb from Urban Roots returned to instruct block club members in planting our containers. The weather turned nasty for a while but Deb did a great job even in the pouring rain! Thankfully the rain backed off some, and Block Club members quickly formed teams of assemblers, planters and deliverymen, and after a few short hours planted and placed the 20 pots up and down our block.

The 4th of july 002purpose of the Livable Communities Grant Program is toIMG_2093 provide funding to Block Clubs and other groups for projects that will provide visual and physical improvements in their neighborhoods. We hope that Tamara Wright, the City of Buffalo representative for the grant will agree that we fullfilled the terms of the grant in spades!
